I was going on a walk and I thought. What would happen if the mountains could talk? Would they say they liked you or that they like the game Clue? Would they say they were mad or that you are rad?
What would they say? That was a fun day? Would they talk about cats or that their friend’s name is Mat? Would they talk about a Jeep that drove in from down deep? Would they say they liked school or they thought your dog was cool?
Would they talk about the dinosaurs that used to roam? Or about the one time an old man built a home? Would they say they were hot because shade they have not?
What ever they’d say this has been a fun day. This has been a fun talk but I should get back to my walk.
This was fun today. But wait, now think about this. What would happen if… Oh wait you figure it out.

Kayli is a 10 year old girl who just learned about writing poems. She was going on a trip to Utah and her dad said, “What would happen if the mountains could talk? That would be a good book!” So she got to work. This poem is an AABB poem. The last little part is a haiku. And the pattern gets a little mixed up at some parts.
